Technical review:

What about Adam is a perfume that focuses on the aromatic aspect of both its herbs and the citrus fruits used, creating a contrast with an elegant woody base and a light amber touch. In the opening we have a fresh and interesting herbal aroma due to the presence of tomato leaf, which reminds us of  galbanum here. The mint adds a slightly minty herbal that is accompanied by a slightly fruity herbal cassis leaf. Grapefruit and Sicilian lemon balance the leaves and give a citrus with a slight sweetness and acidity. Evolution presents a classic body of an aromatic perfume, flirting with fougere: very fresh lavender in contrast with a discreetly floral, green and minty geranium. As it evolves towards the base, a soft woody background is perceived, where the mineral aspect of vetiver and cedar gain body with a drier sandalwood. Vanilla and labdanum seem to suggest a slight amber and sweetness and round off the scent along with the soft presence of oak moss.

Personal Opinion:

What About Adam is one of those unknown perfumes from the 90's that delivers a fragrance way ahead of its time and very well composed. The perfumer is Calice Becker, which does not surprise me given the technical quality that is delivered. A perfume where Joop seems to step out of its extravagant comfort zone and explore other styles that are fresher and easier to wear. Yet here we have a perfume with a Joop touch of being, with an unusual combination at the time for a masculine perfume: tomato leaf, cassis leaves and mint. With the aquatic style dominating the 90's it's easy to see how this green, fresh and pleasant scent unfortunately went unnoticed. However, even today, if its aroma is well preserved, it is still very harmonious and pleasant, it is worth investing in a bottle.
